How T-Shirt Generator handles the design ideas, artwork and the small amount of technical data the site needs to work.

Last updated: 2026-11-02

T-Shirt Generator (tshirtgenerator.org) is a set of free tools for shirt and merch designs: AI tools that draw a graphic from your description, AI mockups made from a design you upload, and mockup, template and outline tools that run entirely in your browser. This policy explains what information each of them touches, why, who else is involved and how long it stays. "We", "us" and "our" mean the people who run tshirtgenerator.org.

The short version

  • What you type and upload is used to make the design or mockup you asked for. We don't sell it, post it anywhere or use it to train AI models.
  • The canvas mockup, template and outline tools work inside your browser: the artwork you drop into them never reaches our servers.
  • To keep free AI images fair, we store a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address and a device identifier, not the IP address itself.
  • You don't need an account. We only ask for an email address if you choose to join the waitlist for a tool that isn't finished yet.

Information you send us

Your prompt and choices. On the AI design tools we receive the description you type, any text you want in the design and the style, color or product you picked.

Artwork for AI mockups. On pages that turn your design into an AI mockup, your browser shrinks and compresses the image, then uploads it to our storage so the AI model can read it.

Artwork in browser tools. On the canvas mockup, template and outline pages your image is placed, recolored and exported by your own browser. Nothing is uploaded, so we never see it.

Waitlist email. A few tools or options aren't ready yet. If you pick one, a short form offers to let you know when it works. Filling it in stores your email address, the page and option you chose, your answer to " What will you use it for?", and a salted one-way hash of your IP address that helps us filter out bots. We use the address for that single notice only: we don't verify it, add it to a mailing list or pass it on.

Emails to us. If you write to us, we keep the thread so we can answer.

Information the site records on its own

  • Free AI allowance. A salted hash of your IP address, an identifier your browser works out from its own settings, and how many free AI images you have used. The browser identifier is also kept in your browser's local storage.
  • Generation records. Which tool and options were used, when, whether the job succeeded, and links to any uploaded design and the result.
  • Server logs. As with any website, our host handles your IP address, browser type and the pages you request in order to serve the site and stop attacks.
  • Visit counts. Plausible Analytics counts visits without cookies and without storing anything that identifies you. We only see totals such as page views, countries and referring sites.

Cookies and local storage

We don't set cookies for visitors. Your browser's local storage holds the device identifier mentioned above and whether you chose the light or dark theme. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes both.

Services that help run the site

A few outside companies do part of the work. Each gets only what its job needs:

  • Cloudflare — hosts the site and its database and stores designs you upload to the AI tools; like any web host it sees your IP address when you connect.
  • AI image model providers — receive your description, the options you picked and, on AI mockup pages, your uploaded design, run the model that creates your image, and keep the result for a limited time so it can be downloaded.
  • Plausible Analytics — counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.

We will also share information when the law requires it or when it is needed to prevent fraud or keep people safe. We don't sell personal information or share it for advertising.

How long things are kept

  • Designs uploaded for AI mockups: stored only to run the service; email us and we delete yours.
  • AI results: held by the AI provider that made them for a limited time so you can download them, then removed. Download the ones you want to keep.
  • Artwork used in browser tools: never stored by us; it stays on your device.
  • Free allowance records: for as long as we offer free AI images; they contain no raw IP address.
  • Waitlist entries: until we've sent the notice for that tool, or until you ask us to delete yours, whichever happens first.

Your rights

Email us and we will tell you what we hold about you, send you a copy, fix it or erase it, uploaded designs included. We reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live (the EU, the UK or California, for example) you may have further rights, including complaining to your data protection authority.

Children

T-Shirt Generator is not for anyone under 13. Please don't upload photos of children or other people's personal images. If we find that a child under 13 has sent us information, we delete it.

The waitlist is not for children under 13 either; if one has signed up, we remove the entry.

Security

All traffic uses HTTPS. Uploads are checked to be real images before they are stored, and each file sits at a long, random address that isn't listed anywhere. Anyone holding that address can open the file, so don't share result links you want to keep private.

Where data is processed

Our host and AI providers operate servers in several countries, so your information may be processed outside the country where you live.

Updates to this policy

When we change this policy, the date at the top changes too. If a change affects how your uploads are used, we will announce it on the site before it applies.
